Mardek Rpg: Chapter 2

"Great game, found a bug."

date: November 7, 2007

I've played Mardek 1 and was pretty entertained with that. With this addition, there was a lot of content, as you said, "10 hours." My only problem with the plot is the awkward shift between humor and seriousness, but it was still great nonetheless.

On to the bug: In the menu after you win a battle, if you keep your cursor on an item that doesn't have the slot filled for another character and press an arrow key, the item will show up there. Sometimes, you can use the "s" key to take some of the item(all won't work) and put it in the other character's slot without depleting any of the original character's item.

"A nice challenge."

I'd finished the first ten and thought it was going to be easy. Boy was I wrong.

The game is very original and unique. The outer-space theme was interesting with a puzzle game. And the loop that was played in the game was actually pretty good, imo, as it didn't get too annoying.

Not Another Sprite Fight

"Interesting."

date: July 19, 2007

It was a good movie, that's for sure. The only complaint I have, really, is that it seems like the next one is just Mario vs. Sonic. Which has been done. Several. Friggin. Times. But, you'll probably find some way to overcome that. Or was that supposed to be the end and you got cut off?

In any case, it was a good flash since SSBB is coming out soon. Nice work. :)

Arnie's Accidents

"Funny."

The music was especially good cause it's stuff you don't hear all the time on NG. I didn't even recognize the songs for the first two skits. Were they from an early Mario Party?

Author's Response:

The first three skits had Super Mario RPG music, and the last two had Mario Party 2 music.

Thanks!

Detective Grimoire

"The only Phoenix Wright-esque game I've seen on NG"

submission: Detective Grimoire
date: July 6, 2007

This game was pretty entertaining, the only suggestion I have is to make the eye-to-eye interrogation thing a little harder. The lies were not only really obvious(for the most part), but the flashing light would give it away.

I looked through the Making Of section and wasn't suprised to see Gumshoe mentioned. It was also understandable why the game took five months to make. I got a little chuckle out of the DS Package.

All in all, a good game. Hope to see a sequal.

I gotta say, the music on #2 was annoying as hell...

The other songs were good, though, as were the games.

You got a couple points for humor for the extra. You also lost 1 point overall for it. The game was still good overall despite it. :P

Mardek Rpg: Chapter 1

"Best I've played in a while."

date: June 13, 2007

Great story and everything, though it was a tad easy. The funniest part was probably the creepy evil guys, 'specially the yellow one(forgot the names).

The graphics seemed pretty good to me and I had to play the game on low quality, which says something about how well they really are. After beating the dragon I thought "Oh lord, how did THIS make front page?" but found how the story changed completely, which I thought was a nice touch.

Also, I have a question: In the encyclopedia, there's a section about artifacts... I apparently haven't found any of them. What are they?

Blockhead: Episode 9

"Another step up for Blockhead."

date: June 6, 2007

Every time you take a long time to come out with another submission it never disappoints me because you improve your animation style tenfold, yet still keep the silly Blockhead humor.
I noticed the little jar that said "RIP: Cyborg." Still making Time Squad references, eh? :P
Keep up the good work, Swain, cause I doubt it'd be possible to improve any more.

Z Ball X

"Uh... weird."

submission: Z Ball X

I didn't quite get the whole combo thing. I got a combo higher than 5 against the computer, the robot thing, and alone, and the attack that is unlocked at Combo 5 is still locked. It happened multiple times. Also, I think the computer's fireball attack is pretty cheap. Right when I pressed "t" to put him in, I get hit by a fireball, and I keep hitting space to recover, but he continuously follows me mashing me in with punches and fireballs before I get a chance to do anything. This would happen about half of the time I tried playing a computer.

The times I tried to play it and wasn't just annihilated, it was actually pretty good. I suggest adding a difficulty level for the computer and limiting its fireball attack, though.

Author's Response:

On the attacks not being unlocked, they are only unlocked whilst your combo score is high enough. If you lose your combo, you lose the tech, theey are designed as 'finisher attacks' though if your good you can chain them.
btw you can unlock infinite special attacks by accumulating 100 combos points over the course of the gamemode
The fireball attack is quite random atm, im just putting this in, and since my pc is a lump of shit its hard to test framerate issues, im working on it.
'Recover' will only work if you possess 50% stamina, firebals only deplete health though.

Blockhead: The Game

""ILOVE SPAAAACE!""

date: December 9, 2006

I gotta say, this was one hell of a great game. Beat it and everything. (Though I gotta say, I was hoping for more use of that scientist than a reference to Time Squad. Maybe a boss fight or something? Ah well, it was still good)

That, and I think your flashes have finally made me consider getting a Tongs T-Shirt. I'll probably ask for one for Christmas.

Great job again, Swain, and everyone else involved too!
